10th Annual Business Appreciation Week/Month

The Frederick County Board of County Commissioners and the Office of Economic Development (OED) are pleased to announce the 10th Annual Business Appreciation Week celebration, this year hosted throughout the month of September 2010. Ambassadors from the State, County, Municipalities, Business Development Advisory Council and the Chamber of Commerce will meet with local companies to learn more about the businesses and to personally thank them for their contributions to the Frederick County economy.

This year, 75 volunteer ambassadors will be visiting more than 200 businesses throughout Frederick County. Among the ambassadors are: Frederick County Commissioners’ President Jan Gardner, Frederick City Alderman Michael O’Connor, Executive Director of the Tourism Council of Frederick County John Fieseler, Middletown Main Street Manager Ruth Davis-Rogers and Thurmont Main Street Manager Nancy Poss.

Randy Gray, a Business Development Specialist with the Office of Economic Development and coordinator of the visits, said, “This event provides us another opportunity to thank companies for all they do in Frederick County and to hear about issues facing the business community.”

OED will kick-off Business Appreciation Month with a breakfast event on Wednesday, September 1st at 8 a.m. at Dutch’s Daughter Restaurant. Matt Erskine, Executive Director of the Greater Washington Initiative, will be the key-note speaker. Business Appreciation Month will conclude on September 30th with an Open House at the Business and Employment Center, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mr. Christian S. Johansson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, will join OED for the event.
